Memorial Garden

Donate in the name of a veteran

The Kiwanis Club of Ruston has constructed a Veterans’ Memorial Garden adjacent to the sidewalk on the north side entry to the Museum.  The display is six posts on the back side of the 12 ft. radius semi-circle with strands of chain strung between the posts.  Military style dog tags are stamped with a veteran’s name, branch of service, rank, and conflict, and hung on the wire.  In the center of the Garden is a 36” X 18” bronze dedication plaque displaying “IN HONOR OF THOSE WHO SERVE” and the emblems of the six service branches.  The plaque is mounted on a 40” X 22” block of granite.  It was dedicated as part of the City of Ruston’s 2019 Veterans Day ceremonies.

The Museum will provide the dog tags, stamp them with the veteran’s information, and hang the tags in the Garden for a $10 donation.  All of the donations will remain with the Museum, therefore, the Garden will not only honor the Veterans, but also provide an ongoing source for revenue for the Museum.

To participate in this tribute, complete the application form below and return it to the Museum with your $10 check.  There are instructions in the form for filing it.  You can include as much or as little information on the form as you desire.  Obviously, all of the information will not fit on a dog tag, but a searchable data base of all honorees and their information will be maintained at the Museum.  An abbreviated version of the data base (all personal data redacted) will be posted on the Museum website.  If you have any questions or need any additional information, please contact the Museum.

More information can be viewed at the Museum website (www.nlmm.la).  Click on “Menu” at the top right of the site, select “Memorial”; or type www.nlmm.la/memorial.html into your browser.  Near the bottom of the page is a place to download a copy of the application form.
